Hartley County, TX — February 24, 2024, Juana Guijarro and Eduardo Armando Guijarro were injured in a car accident at 8:35 p.m. along U.S. 87.
According to authorities, 76-year-old Eduardo Armando Guijarro and 76-year-old Juana Guijarro were traveling in a southeast bound Jeep Grand Cherokee on U.S. Highway 87 in the vicinity northwest of the Red Barn Road intersection when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a Subaru Forester which had been traveling southwest on U.S. 87 behind the Jeep collided with the rear-end of the Jeep. This collision caused the Jeep to veer left, crossing over the center median and both of the northwest bound lanes of the highway before coming to a stop facing east in a field on the east side of the highway. The Subaru spun nearly 180 degrees before coming to rest facing northwest, partially in the outside southeast lane of the highway and partially in the shoulder.
Juana Guijarro incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck, while Eduardo Armando Guijarro sustained apparently moderate injuries. They were each transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
