Amarillo, TX — January 11, 2024, Joseph Hernandez, Moses Hernandez, and a teenaged girl were killed and a baby was injured in a head-on car accident around 1:00 p.m. along Grand Street.

According to authorities, a 17-year-old girl was traveling in a Lexus along South Grand Street in the vicinity of the Comanche Trail Golf Course when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Lexus allegedly failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left and entered the lane of oncoming traffic; this resulted in a head-on collision with a Chevy Impala. The 17-year-old was apparently ejected from the Lexus during the accident. She and two occupants from the Impala—37-year-old Joseph Hernandez and 38-year-old Moses Hernandez—were declared deceased at the scene due to injuries incurred as a result of the wreck. The 19-month-old boy who had also been in the Impala sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local medical facility for treatment.
