Hull, IA — February 9, 2025, James Kooima, Gaylene Hultman and Margene Kooima were injured following a car accident that occurred Sunday morning on Hwy. 75.
An investigation is underway following a car accident that left three people injured during the morning hours of February 9th. According to official reports, James Kooima was operating a vehicle with Margene Kooima as his passenger in the northbound lanes of Highway 75, when for unknown reasons it turned in front of a vehicle that was traveling in the southbound lanes operated by Gaylene Hultman resulting in a collision.
When first responders arrived on the scene they found that all three individuals were injured, with Margene requiring transport to the hospital via helicopter. At this time the accident remains an ongoing investigation, and the status of all three individuals remains unknown.

To fully understand what led to this crash, there are three key questions that must be asked.
The first question is whether authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. Law enforcement will likely document the crash scene, examine physical evidence, and gather witness statements to determine why the vehicles collided. However, the quality of these investigations can vary depending on the agency’s resources and training. In a crash like this, factors such as visibility, traffic signals, road conditions, and potential obstructions should all be carefully considered to ensure that investigators account for every possible contributing factor.
The second question—one that is often overlooked—is whether a mechanical failure or vehicle defect contributed to the crash. If a vehicle’s brakes, steering, or acceleration systems malfunctioned, a driver may not have been able to avoid the collision.
