According to authorities, two people—a 55-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man—were on foot at the Blue Oak Lane and Noble Oak Drive intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the two pedestrians were struck by a southbound Toyota Corolla occupied by a 27-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman. The two people from the Corolla allegedly fled the scene after the accident.

The two pedestrians reportedly sustained serious injuries due to the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Oftentimes, when people hear about pedestrian-involved car accidents, for some reason they are quick to blame the victims. In this particular accident, though, the people who had been in the vehicle left the scene. That makes me wonder if they knew they had been the ones at fault.

To be clear, we still don’t know many details about what actually happened in this accident. I just wanted to point out that—based on things like the time of night and the fact that the driver and passenger left the scene—fatigue, distraction, or even impairment could have been factors. Hopefully the investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—are getting to the bottom of it. I’m sure it will require a meticulous mindset to make sure that nothing important falls through the cracks.
