Accident Report
March 10, 2026, a woman was injured due to a hit-and-run accident that happened around 9:26 p.m. along West Berry Street.
Preliminary information about the accident says that the collision happened off the corner of the W. Berry Street and Hemphill Street.
According to officials, a 72-year-old woman was on foot at the time in the area of westbound lanes of Berry. While there, a vehicle struck the woman, then reportedly fled the scene.
Due to the accident, the woman was seriously injured. It’s unclear if authorities ever identified or located the runaway driver.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Usually, pedestrian accidents come down to whether or not a pedestrian was clearly visible or avoidable. A lot of people think it’s all about right-of-way, but that only tells part of the story. For example, even if a pedestrian is outside of a crosswalk, if they’re clearly visible and far away enough to avoid, drivers still have a responsibility to avoid them. If they fail to, that can raise red flags about the driver’s behavior.
I certainly can’t say how avoidable this accident was, but a driver fleeing an accident scene isn’t exactly sign that they were on their best behavior. It’s obviously important to find a runaway driver, see they’re held accountable, and get clear answers about what happened in the accident. If authorities haven’t already done that behind the scenes, hopefully they release more information to the public. Someone may still be able to connect the dots and identify the suspect so they can answer for their actions.
Was anyone in this area at the time of the accident? Did you see anything that could be related to the accident? Any information that could be helpful is welcome in the comments.
