Accident Report
April 9, 2026, two people were injured following a GoRaleigh bus accident at around 10:40 a.m. on Edwards Mill Road.
Initial details about the accident say that it happened south of the Glenwood Avenue and Creedmoor Road intersection. It appears a GoRaleigh transit bus was going along Edwards Mill Road when it somehow went off-road and crashed into a tree. Due to this, two passengers from the bus sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
No other details about the crash are available at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Like any traffic accident, there will no doubt be looks into the driver’s cellphone usage, at the vehicle’s speed, and consideration for things like a tire blowout or a medical emergency. With a commercial vehicle, though, there can be more complex issues to cover. Was the driver properly trained? Did they have a history of reckless behavior? Does the city have a known problem with bus accidents? Are they maintaining the buses properly? At the end of the day, people should have some reasonable confidence that if they get on a city bus, they’ll make it to their destination safely. If I lived in the area—let alone if I was involved in a crash—I’d want to make sure there wasn’t a risk of this happening again.
Do any locals have information I should know about this crash or the transit system in general here? Let me know in the comments.
