Accident Report
Yuma County, AZ — June 17, 2026, four people were injured in a construction vehicle accident at about 2:30 p.m. on El Camino del Diablo.
Authorities said a motor grader was heading north on the desert road when it moved to the right to allow other vehicles to pass. One vehicle passed safely, then a Ford F-250 crashed into the rear of the grader.
A front seat passenger in the Ford, whose name has not been made public yet, was flown to a Phoenix hospital with critical injuries after the crash, according to authorities.
The pickup driver, another passenger and the motor grader driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Yuma County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
One vehicle apparently was able to avoid a collision, with the F-250 was not. Authorities should give on sorting out why. Was there enough room for the large pickup to pass? Did the grader operator move back onto the road after the first vehicle passed? Was either driver distracted? DId one of the vehicles have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism?
If authorities can answer these questions, they should be able to explain what happened to those who were injured in this crash. If not, these families may opt to seek out an independent investigator.
Scrutinizing physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage should help investigators reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show that the drivers were doing at the time, but a qualified expert likely will be needed if anyone suspects a mechanical issue contributed to this crash because most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such investigations, in my experience.
This investigation should answer any lingering questions for those injured in this crash.
