Austin County, TX — January 28, 2024, Elian Marie Montondon was injured in a truck accident at approximately 12:30 p.m. along Interstate Highway 10.
According to reports, 20-year-old Eliana Montondon and an 18-year-old man were traveling in a westbound Toyota Corolla on Interstate 10 in the vicinity east of Old Columbus Road when the accident took place.
Officials state that the front right tire of the Corolla blew out, causing the vehicle to lose control. It reportedly veered left and collided with the concrete center median before swerving back to the right. It then collided with the back left side of the trailer of a westbound 18-wheeler before coming to a stop, resting partially in the north shoulder and partially in the right-most of the westbound lanes.
Montondon incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident; she was transported to a local medical center by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
