UPDATE (March 18, 2024): The man who lost his life as a result of this accident has been identified as Eduardo Andino Bustillo, of Slidell, LA.
Houston, TX — March 10, 2024, one person was killed in a single-car accident at approximately 9:00 p.m. along Telephone Road.
According to authorities, a 62-year old man was traveling in a Ford Fusion that had reportedly taken a route through a parking lot and was attempting to make a right turn onto Telephone Road in the vicinity of the Santa Fe Drive intersection when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Fusion lost control and collided with a pole. The collision caused the Fusion to ignite with flames. A passerby was able to remove the victim from the wreckage. He was transported to a local medical facility in order to receive immediate treatment. However, he was ultimately unable to overcome the extent of his injuries and was later there declared deceased.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
