Accident Report

March 22, 2026, one person was injured due to an alleged intoxicated driver accident at approximately 1:00 a.m. along Interstate Highway 10.

According to authorities, a 41-year-old man was traveling in a northbound sedan in the 11400 block of I-10 when the accident took place. Officials indicate that the wrong-way sedan was involved in a collision with a southbound truck before also crashing into a second southbound vehicle occupied by a 47-year-old woman.

The woman reportedly suffered serious injuries as a result of the wreck. EMS transported her to an area medical facility so that she could receive necessary treatment. The man who had been behind the wheel of the wrong-way vehicle was allegedly under the influence at the time. He was taken into custody, reports state, and authorities have recommended Intoxication Assault charges against him.

Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s obvious that the allegedly inebriated state of the wrong-way vehicle’s driver played a huge role in this accident. I hope that the authorities that are investigating this wreck don’t get tunnel vision, though, and stop their investigation at the scene of the accident, itself. After all, that man was drinking somewhere. If it was at a private residence, then that was one thing. However, if he was somehow overserved at an establishment that sells alcohol—such as a restaurant or a bar—then that is a wholly different matter.

Why? Because Texas has something called Dram Shop Law. If a person is served alcohol even after it is obvious that they are intoxicated, and that person is later involved in an accident that hurts someone, then that establishment can be held accountable for their role in the outcome.
