Rutherford County, TN — January 26, 2024, Diego Lux Gomez was killed and another person was injured in a truck accident at about 6:00 a.m. along I-24.
According to authorities, Diego Lux Gomez—age 49—and one other person were traveling in an eastbound Honda Civic on Interstate 24 in the vicinity between S.H. 102 and I.H. 840 when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Honda drifted off of the right side of the road before being overcorrected. As a result, the Honda ended up facing west in the eastbound lanes. An eastbound 18-wheeler reportedly collided with the left side of the Honda. Both the Honda and the 18-wheeler came to rest in the grassy median of the interstate.
Gomez incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was declared deceased at the scene. The second occupant of the Honda—a 23-year-old—sustained injuries of unknown severity. No other injuries have been reported.
