When it comes to a crash like this, a big challenge is simply ensuring no one is jumping to conclusions. Over the decades, I’ve frequently had to contend with people who fail to even consider that a motorcyclist might get into an accident that wasn’t their fault. It’s obviously possible for something like this to happen due to speeding or distracted driving, but there are all kinds of other possibilities to consider.

Were there any issues with the vehicle? Did a tire blow out? Was there something in the road, like debris or an animal? Did the victim suffer a medical emergency? Did some other driver force them off-road and flee the scene? Is this a stretch of road with insufficient lighting or signage? Likely or not, these things happen, and they deserve attention from investigators. Jumping to conclusions isn’t going to do any good, regardless of how many wheels someone is on. Hopefully authorities here haven’t let anything important slip through the cracks due to some kind of unfair bias.
