Hidalgo County, TX — September 13, 2024, Concepcion Chable was killed and Christy Garcia was injured following a car accident at 5:40 p.m. along Mile 6 Road.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened off Mile 6 Road and Mile 12 Road, in the Olivarez area.

According to officials, 56-year-old Concepcion Reyes Chable was in a Chevy Silverado going westbound on Mile 12. At Mile 6, the Silverado and a southbound Chevy Trailblazer crashed. Due to the collision, Chable was killed. The other driver, identified as 33-year-old Christy Garcia, had moderate injuries.

Right now, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed. Authorities mentioned looking into alcohol as a possibility, which could certainly make the crash a lot more complex. This is because many alcohol-related accidents involve negligent alcohol providers who can also be held responsible for their role in a crash. If an alcohol provider over-serves someone, and it gets that person or someone else hurt or killed, then the alcohol provider can face criminal investigations, fines, and liability. But that all depends on how thorough investigations are, since authorities don’t often extend their efforts beyond the crash scene itself. It could be that independent investigations into this would show there’s more to this story.
