Gonzales County, TX — January 12, 2024, Colton Filip was injured following a car accident at around 11:00 p.m. along St. Louis Street.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash took place in the area of the St. Louis Street and Titcomb Street intersection.
Initial details indicate that 28-year-old Colton Gene Filip was in a Nissan Pathfinder traveling westbound on St. Louis Street. Authorities suggested that Filip ran off-road trying to avoid another vehicle that reportedly entered the path of the Nissan. As a result, Filip’s Nissan crashed into two poles and a fire hydrant. As a result, Filip sustained serious injuries.

Details about the other vehicle mentioned by authorities were not provided in initial statements. Did authorities just not feel the need to include that information, or was this a hit-and-run? If it was a hit-and-run, shouldn’t there be a description of the vehicle so the public can help identify them? And if it wasn’t, what exactly did authorities leave out?
With any luck, steps have already been taken behind the scenes to clear everything up. But when I see statements from authorities leaving this many unanswered questions, I can’t help wondering if the people affected by the crash are just as in the dark as the rest of us.
