Burnet, TX — December 4, 2023, Colleen Gunn was killed in a truck accident just before 2:15 in the afternoon along U.S. 281.
According to reports, 50-year-old Colleen Gunn, of Kinglsand, Texas, was traveling in a northbound Kia Optima on U.S. 281 in the vicinity south of the Ranch to Market 2340 intersection when the accident took place.
For as yet unknown reasons, the Kia failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It allegedly veered left of center and into the southbound lanes of the highway. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming 18-wheeler. After the collision with the 18-wheeler, the Kia reportedly barreled off of the road where it came to rest after crashing into a roadside ditch on the west side of the highway. The Kia was reportedly fully engulfed in flames upon arrival of emergency personnel, according to officials. Gunn incurred fatal injuries due to the accident and was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been clear and dry. There are not currently any additional details available pertaining to this incident.
