Two Injured in Car Accident on U.S. Highway 175 in Seagoville, TX

Seagoville, TX — November 19, 2023, two people were injured following a car accident at around 6:48 p.m. along U.S. Highway 175.

Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened in the area of U.S. 175 and North Kaufman Street.

According to officials, a 21-year-old woman was in a Chevy Malibu going westbound along Kaufman Street crossing the U.S. 175 service road. While doing so, authorities allege that a 32-year-old Jeep Compass ran a stop sign and crashed into the Malibu. The Jeep driver apparently had incapacitating injuries while the Chevy driver reportedly had non-incapacitating injuries.

Authorities alleged in their initial statements that the driver of the Jeep may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. This has yet to be confirmed, so I can only hope authorities have been thorough, including whether or not the driver may have been over-served by a local alcohol provider. I frequently come across accidents where authorities are diligent when investigating a potentially drunk driver, but negligent businesses who can also be responsible for someone’s injuries often slips through the cracks until more thorough independent investigations.
