How Did This Accident Occur?

This early in the morning, a vehicle disabled on an interstate can be a serious hazard. The question, though, is if that vehicle was clearly visible and avoidable. I’ve seen plenty of accidents where a car has its lights on, and another driver hits it despite having the time and space to slow down or go around it. That can raise red flags for things like distraction or alcohol.

However, there have been plenty of other scenarios where the disabled vehicle is dark and all but impossible to avoid. That can happen due to something unavoidable, like complete power failure to the car, or simple negligence. Either way, it’s up to the evidence to say for sure. There’s no magic equation for determining fault in a crash like this, so investigations should gather as much information as possible to put the pieces together and determine how this all could have been avoided.

Did anyone happen to pass through this area prior to the crash, did you see any disabled vehicles? Let me know in the comments.
