How Did This Accident Occur?
People might be quick to assume a crash like this likely involved inattentive driving or unsafe speeds. Those are both common, and I wouldn’t suggest ignoring those possibilities. However, I’ve seen countless situations where folks jumped to blame someone only for their assumptions to be wrong. A lot of those were motorcycle wrecks.
The unfortunately reality is motorcyclists have a bad reputation. In my experience, it’s an unfair reputation, as many riders are safe drivers who actually have to watch out for all the cars, SUVs, and trucks around them. But what’s important about this bias is it can affect investigations. Authorities sometimes let their preconceived notions affect their judgment, and they might overlook important evidence if there’s a blind spot they’re not conscious of.
So, regardless of who or what caused this crash, my hope is that investigations are thorough and fair. The best outcomes are generally the ones where the evidence is able to speak for itself. The more evidence investigators are open to exploring, the more it can do the talking.
Does that seem like a fair approach? Tell me if you agree or disagee in the comments.
