Ashton Ross Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Grand Prairie, TX

According to officials, 22-year-old Ashton Ross was on a Honda motorcycle going southbound on the service road after exiting the President George Bush Turnpike. Up ahead, police say a Honda Odyssey coming out of a shopping center failed to yield, pulling into the path of Ross. Ross reportedly swerved to avoid a collision and was thrown from the bike after it laid down. As a result, Ross sustained fatal injuries.

In their statements, authorities said they were recommending the Odyssey driver be charged for manslaughter. With such a serious charge, I have to wonder if there was something unique about the driver’s actions. I’ve seen many fatal accidents which never had such serious charges attached to them, so what’s different here? Was the driver on drugs? Were they on their phone? Were they coming from a bar? Perhaps any witnesses who read this can shed some light on what really happened here and why authorities seem to be taking it more seriously than usual.
