I certainly don’t know more information about this specific incident, but people ask me a lot about accidents that happen at apartment complexes. Despite how common they are, folks don’t generally know what their rights or options might be. Generally speaking, part of the investigations has to include the condition of the property and what role, if any, that played in an accident. With a swimming pool, for example, there needs to be fencing around the pool specifically to prevent children from accidentally hurting themselves. Fences that are too short, easy to climb over, or that have gates which don’t latch properly can be incredibly hazardous. So if authorities aren’t looking into those possibilities here, they may not be getting the whole story.
