Woman Injured in Alleged DWI Accident on Kingsland Boulevard in Harris County, TX

Investigators said that a 30-year-old woman was in a Ford F-150 going eastbound on Kingsland. At Grand Parkway, a westbound vehicle reportedly failed to yield, causing the vehicles to collide. As a result, the woman in the Ford had serious injuries. The other driver, unhurt, is accused of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

If the allegations about impairment are true, did authorities look into where the alcohol came from? If the driver was over-served, there could be a local alcohol provider who contributed to this accident. I had this case not long ago, for example, where a guy went out to a happy hour with co-workers after their shift. He proceeded to become extremely intoxicated, yet the establishment kept serving him despite the clear danger he presented. As a result, he ended up driving into oncoming traffic and nearly getting a kid killed. That establishment broke the law, contributed to a serious crash, and was ultimately responsible for their role in the child’s injuries. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but it would be a shame if authorities let someone off the hook just because they weren’t looking.
