Accident Report

March 24, 2026, Alejandro Alfonso Lima was killed and two were injured in a multi-vehicle car accident at around 10:00 p.m. on Highway 302.

Investigators said that the crash took place approximately 11 miles east of Kermit. Authorities say that 19-year-old Alejandro Alfonso Lima was in a westbound Ford Ranger. It appears that the Ranger collided with an oncoming semi-truck as well as another vehicle “trying to pass the semi.” A Ford Fusion then crashed with the Ranger, as well.

Alejandro Alfonso Lima died as a result of the crash. At least two other drivers were injured. Investigations are ongoing at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

In recent reports on this crash, some details stood out to me which make me wonder if authorities are really giving this crash the attention it needs. Reports initially state that the victim’s Ford Ranger crossed the center line and hit an oncoming semi. Then, they say the Ranger crashed with another vehicle “trying to pass the semi.” This order of events is crucial to clarify. Let me explain why.

The question that comes to my mind is this: Did the victim leave their lane of travel because an oncoming vehicle entered their path while negligently attempting to pass a semi-truck? An oncoming vehicle suddenly entering another driver’s lane of travel could easily explain someone swerving or losing control of their vehicle. If that’s the order this happened in, it could paint a far more complex picture than just a driver drifting out of their lane and causing a chain-reaction crash.

However, if this is just unclear wording on the part of a reporting officer or a news site reporter, then maybe nothing that unusual happened here at all. But that’s something that needs to be confirmed sooner rather than later. If a lack of clarity starts at a news desk, that’s one thing. If it happens due to shoddy investigations from authorities, that’s something families need to be aware of so they can decide if they want to bring in independent investigators to pick up the slack.

Are there any witnesses out there who can help clarify the order of events leading up to this crash?
