Accident Report

Forest Hill, TX — March 15, 2026, Don Garrett II was injured in a car accident at about 2:30 a.m. in the 6500 block of Wichita Street.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2010 GMC Yukon allegedly ran a red light while heading east on SE Loop 820 and collided with a southbound Kia Telluride.

Kia driver Don Ray Garrett II, 43, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report, while the woman riding with him suffered minor injuries.

The GMC driver, who also suffered minor injuries, is not facing any charges or citations at this time, the report states.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Tarrant County crash.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Authorities contend that the GMC caused this crash by running a red light, but that doesn’t mean the driver is at fault. What if he has some sort of medical problem? Or his SUV had an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Or the timing was off on the signal lights on Wichita Street? I’m not saying any of these scenarios fit with this crash, because I don’t know any more than I’ve read, but these are possibilities that authorities should consider in their investigation.

Investigators should be able to sort out how the crash happened by going over evidence at the scene, data from the vehicles and any available video of the accident. If they suspect a medical or mechanical issue contributed to the crash, they likely will have to seek an independent expert to ferret out the truth.
