A Southlake police officer was injured Monday afternoon after a collision involving a work truck and a police motorcycle near the intersection of Southlake Boulevard and Olivia Court.
According to police, the officer was responding to a report of a fight in progress and had emergency lights and sirens activated when a work truck pulled into their path. The motorcycle reportedly collided with the truck, and the officer was transported to a hospital in Grapevine. Authorities reported that the officer’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The incident remains under investigation.
Whenever I hear about a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle, especially when the motorcycle is being operated by an emergency responder, I think about how vital it is for all drivers to remain aware of their surroundings, particularly when lights and sirens are present.
