Accident Report
Acworth, GA — April 3, 2026, Zory Beavers and Royan Osborne were killed in a truck accident at about 8:45 a.m. on Interstate 75/Larry McDonald Memorial Highway.
Authorities said a 2023 Freightliner semi-truck was heading north when it bumped into the Freightliner semi-truck next to it. The first truck overturned and crashed into a barrier on the right side of the highway after it returned to its lane and was struck from behind by a Ram 3500 pickup with a flatbed trailer.
Two men in the overturned truck — driver Zory Beavers, 28, of Conyers and passenger Royan Osborne, 42, of Norcross — were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near exit 273, according to authorities.
The other drivers were not hurt, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Cobb County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities contend this crash was caused by a semi-truck that left its lane and crashed into another semi on I-75, but at this point we don’t know why. Was the driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Was there something in the road? Did the truck have a problem with its steering mechanism? Did its load shift, causing the truck to respond?
I’m not claiming to know the answers to these questions, but they are definitely the type of questions that authorities should be considering as they investigate this crash. A thorough investigation should provide answers to the questions plaguing the families of the men who died in this crash. They deserve to know as much as possible about what happened and why.
