Accident Report
May 16, 2026, a teenager was killed and Yuritzi Hernandez and five others were hurt in a hit-and-run accident at 10:20 p.m. on US 175.
Initial details about the accident say that it happened along eastbound lanes at Edd Road, just off Beltline Road. 29-year-old Yuritzi Hernandez and six others were in a Lincoln Navigator going eastbound. Police say that red pickup going the same direction crashed with the Lincoln. The pickup then left the scene.
Due to the crash, a 13-year-old boy riding in the Lincoln sustained fatal injuries. Yuritzi Hernandez and the other five passengers were hurt. It’s unclear at this time if authorities located the runaway driver.
How Did This Accident Occur?
A late-night hit-and-run often raises red flags for things like drunk driving or drugs, as that can lead a driver to flee for fear of facing severe consequences beyond just causing a crash. Maybe there were other factors involved, but knowing for sure will likely require finding the runaway driver. If that hasn’t happened yet, do authorities have any more information they can release to the public? The local community is often one of the best tools authorities have for hit-and-run investigations. Someone may be able to connect the dots and come forward with new information. The sooner authorities bring in outside help, the better the chances are of finding the driver and getting answers and even a proper resolution.
