Callahan County, TX — January 28, 2024, Yan Broytman was fatally injured due to an 18-wheeler accident at around 11:10 a.m. along Interstate 20.
According to preliminary information released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred just outside of Baird and Putman along the westbound lanes of I-20.
Officials said that 43-year-old Yan Broytman was on foot along the shoulder outside of a tractor-trailer which stopped due to mechanical issues. While Broytman was outside of the truck working on it, police say a passing Freightliner failed to maintain its lane. It struck Broytman as a result, killing Broytman.
Right now, specific factors contributing to the crash are unavailable. It’s unclear if authorities are considering charges. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
