UPDATE: Reports say that one of the children involved in the crash ultimately succumbed to their injuries. The driver allegedly responsible has been indicted for multiple charges.
Denison, TX — October 2, 2025, Xochitl Monsivais was fatally injured and Juan Monsivais and three children were hurt in an alleged drunk driver accident.
Officials say that the crash took place late Thursday in the area of US Highway 69 and Snow Road.
Current reports say that Juan Monsivais—a sergeant for the Grayson County Sheriff’s office—his wife Xochitl Monsivais, and their three children were in a vehicle going home. Authorities say that another driver rear-ended their vehicle in a severe crash.
Due to the collision, Xochitl Monsivais was put on life support, and reports as of October 14 confirm she was killed. A young child in the Monsivais was last reported to be in the ICU. Other injuries weren’t specified, but reports say Juan Monsivais and the other kids were taken to area hospitals.
Right now, it’s alleged that the driver who hit the Monsivais family was under the influence of alcohol at the time. Charges for intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter have been reported.

This is awful to read about. I hope everyone who may have played a role in this crash, from the alleged drunk driver to any complicit alcohol providers, are held accountable for their actions.
