If authorities treated this accident like a lot of alleged drunk driving accidents I’ve seen, they may have simply moved on once they recommended charges for the alleged drunk driver. Maybe that’s all there is to this crash. However, it’s crucial to find out where the alcohol came from.

A lot of accidents like this involve drivers who were unlawfully over-served by a bar or other local establishment. Those alcohol providers can be responsible for contributing to accidents resulting from their over-service of alcohol. But if authorities simply begin and end their investigations at the crash scene, those negligent alcohol providers get to fly under the radar, and they’re bound to continue putting lives at risk.

That’s why there may need to be more thorough secondary investigations here. It’s important to find out if there were any accomplices to the crash who should answer for their actions.
