Accident Report

June 23, 2026, Wyatt Johnson was injured as the result of a car accident at around 2:00 a.m. along Interstate 35W.

According to initial reports, the accident happened along the southbound lanes of I-35W in the area of Meacham Boulevard.

Officials said that 20-year-old Wyatt Johnson was on a motorcycle going along I-35W. Reports say a Toyota Camry was following the motorcycle too closely, and the vehicles collided.

Due to the crash, Wyatt Johnson reportedly sustained serious injuries. The car driver had no reported injuries. Authorities say they recommended charges for that driver.

How Did This Accident Occur?

If the reports here are accurate, then following too closely is a pretty common factor in crashes like this. Another common factor at this time of day is alcohol. While it might seem like authorities would immediately call that out if it contributed to the crash, it’s not always easy to investigate drunk driving. I’ve handled hundreds of drunk driving accident investigations where evidence extended far beyond the crash scene all the way to a local bar that unlawfully over-served that driver. Maybe something similar happened here, and these preliminary reports aren’t telling the whole story.

That’s just a possibility, to be clear. Hopefully authorities definitively ruled out alcohol just due to it being so common at this time of the morning. If they didn’t check that possible factor, there could be more to this story that still needs attention.
