Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

While the details of this accident aren’t clear, one thing remains consistent: Texas has the most complex work accident law in the country. Simply put, there is not always a guaranteed path for victims and families to get benefits after a work accident. Since employers are not required to subscribed to the workers’ comp system, workers sometimes find themselves up against their own employers, and those employers aren’t always going to have a worker’s best interests in mind.

On top of that, an accident involving contractors can create additional hurdles, as the factors that caused the accident may have involved mistakes from other separate companies working on the same site. This all can combine to create quite the legal maze. It’s important victims and families have the tools and experience on their side to help navigate that maze. This can be crucial for ensuring that they get a conclusion that’s as fair to them as possible.
