People tend to read about stories like this, assume OSHA has everything covered, and figure that’s that. In reality, Texas has the most complex work accident laws of any other state in the country. There is not always a guaranteed path for workers and their families to get the benefits they need. Sometimes, they need to have an extensive body of evidence telling their side of the story and numerous legal tools to ensure they can argue their position on level ground with employers who are likely to prioritize their needs over that of the worker. That process is anything but open-and-shut, and it’s important steps are always taken early on to prepare an injured worker and their family for whatever path lies ahead for them.
