How Did This Accident Occur?
There isn’t clear information right now on what happened here or if it was at all avoidable or foreseeable. That’s going to be up to more thorough investigations. To be clear, though, Texas has uniquely challenging work fatality laws. There isn’t always some automatic process that gets families a clean resolution or even clear answers. A lot of the time, it’s up to them to make sure investigators are asking the right questions and preserving evidence so they can argue for a fair and just resolution. OSHA may be part of that process, but it’s still just one part of many. So, hopefully steps are taken here to ensure those affected by the accident know what paths are available to them going forward.
