Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

It’s obviously important to consider the factors that led to these injuries thoroughly. OSHA will no doubt be looking into things. What’s important for folks to understand, though, is that OSHA efforts alone are rarely enough for victims and families. Even when OSHA looks into things, it can take anywhere from six months to over a year to complete their investigations. Even then, they won’t necessarily be focused on the needs of the workers and their families.

Texas has the most complex work accident laws in the whole country, and families need clear answers to help them navigate that legal maze. As such, a lot of them reasonable decide to bring in independent investigators so they’re not stuck waiting around for answers that might not even come. Having independent professionals look into things, however, can help ensure someone is prioritizing their needs and getting clear answers while the evidence is still intact.
