How Did This Accident Occur?
I’m certainly not going to speculate about this accident with so few details currently available. OSHA investigators all kinds of things, from vehicle accidents to equipment misuse to medical emergencies. Avoidable or not, a workplace fatality is bound to land on OSHA’s radar.
What’s important is making sure investigations go beyond just looking for rule violations. A worker’s loved ones deserve to know the full story, and they may need to navigate Texas work fatality law to get a fair resolution. We have the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country, so it’s important families know they’re not missing any important details. Either authorities can reassure the family that they’re going to get the whole story, or there may need to be efforts from independent professionals to pick up the slack.
