Dallas, TX — June 16, 2024, Willie Sims Jr. and one other person were injured in a car accident just before 9:45 p.m. along Forest Lane.
According to authorities, 59-year-old Willie Sims Jr. was traveling in a westbound GMC Sierra pickup truck on Forest lane at the Metric Road intersection when the accident took place.
The intersection is apparently controlled by a traffic signal. The pickup truck was proceeding through the intersection with a green light when, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Toyota Rav4 on Metric entered the intersection in an attempt to make a left turn to join westbound traffic on Forest, disregarding the red light indicated by the traffic signal. This resulted in a collision between the back-right quarter of the Toyota and the front-end of the Sierra.
Sims suffered reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck; the 42-year-old man who had been in the Toyota sustained moderate injuries, as well. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
