Accident Report
April 10, 2026, William Terry was injured due to a car accident shortly before 12:15 p.m. along U.S Highway 84.
According to authorities, 74-year-old William Terry was traveling as a passenger in a westbound Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck with a trailer in tow on U.S. Highway 84 in the vicinity west of the Harris Creek Road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, a westbound GMC SUV attempted a lane change at an apparently unsafe time. A collision consequently occurred between the front-left quarter of the GMC and the back-right quarter of the Ram. The Dodge and its trailer overturned as a result of the impact, report state.
Terry reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this accident are not available at this point in time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s clear, based on preliminary reports, that the authorities suspect the accident was caused by the GMC making an unsafe lane change. I’ve had the opportunity to analyze thousands of car accidents over the last three decades. I don’t want to mitigate the importance of what caused the crash, but I am also interested in the fact that the Ram and it’s trailer overturned.
Most people don’t know this, but the rollover test that car manufacturers are required to pass actually does a terrible job of simulating real-world scenarios. I would be extremely interested to know whether or not a design flaw with the Dodge contributed to the fact that it overturned. I’m also curious about the efficiency of its safety features. There were four people in that Dodge, but the victim was the only one who ended up with injuries. Was his seatbelt functioning properly? Did the airbags work like they were supposed to?
An in-depth vehicle inspection done by a trained professional in a laboratory setting would be able to bring to light any mechanical malfunctions, product defects, or design flaws that played a role in the outcome of the wreck. Hopefully, investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get one done. After all, those affected by this accident deserve to have a clear and detailed picture as to how and why things turned out as they did.
