Accident Report

March 25, 2026, William Lenormand Jr. and another person were injured due to a car accident just before 10:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 90.

According to authorities, two people—48-year-old William Lenormand Jr. and a 51-year-old man—were traveling in a southwest bound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on U.S. 90 in the vicinity northeast of Lake Houston Parkway when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Silverado was involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a light pole.

Lenormand reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The man who had been a passenger in the pickup suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people who hear about single-vehicle accidents make the assumption that driver error was the cause. That’s a safe bet since, statistically speaking, human error does play a part in the majority of car accidents. However, I’ve analyzed hundreds of single-car accidents over the last thirty years. I’ve seen case after case where the investigation actually turned up evidence of underlying issues that were not apparent at first glance.

It’s not that I know more about this accident than anyone else outside of the investigation, by the way. I just want to suggest a hypothetical. We still really know very little about what happened in this accident. I want to point out that, hypothetically, the Silverado could have been dealing with a steering malfunction. That could easily have led to a loss of control and the subsequent collision.

Hopefully the authorities who are in charge of this investigation get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the Silverado by a trained professional in a laboratory setting. That’s what will be able to either rule out or bring to light any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that might otherwise have flown under the radar. If the authorities don’t get one done, for some reason, then a third party investigation can always take that step, instead. That way all the bases are covered.

After all, as he heals from this ordeal, Mr. Lenormand deserves to have real answers backed by solid evidence, not just convenient excuses that do little more than saddle him with possibly unmerited blame.
