Moncks Corner, SC — March 12, 2025, William Jeffrey Foster was killed as the result of a car versus Amtrak train accident at 7:20 p.m. on Altman Street.
Initial details about the crash say that it took place at the intersection of Altman Street and East Railroad Avenue.

According to officials, 59-year-old William Jeffrey Foster and another person were in a vehicle going along the roadway. In a series of events unclear, the vehicle crashed with an Amtrak train which was crossing through the area.
Due to the collision, Foster was killed. The passenger in Foster’s vehicle was seriously injured. There were no other reported injuries. Details aren’t clear right now, but authorities mentioned looking into the possibility the railroad crossing arms weren’t down.

It isn’t clear right now if authorities mentioned the crossing arms jut because they’re being thorough or because they actually have information suggesting there was something wrong with this crossing. I’ve talked a lot on this blog about the importance of considering railroad crossing issues, regardless of how common they may or may not be. If nothing else, someone lost their life here, and their loved ones deserve answers. That’s especially true if an accident happened due to issues which could continue to put lives at risk if they remain unfixed.
