One key detail I don’t see reports mention is visibility. Was this disabled vehicle well-lit with its emergency lights on? If so, most attentive drivers should be able to avoid that. I had a case not long ago where a driver failing to avoid a disabled vehicle was distracted watching movies on his tablet. Maybe nothing so egregious happened here, but that’s the sort of behavior investigators need to be on the lookout for. Did they pull electronic data and preserve any camera footage of the accident? Is there more to this crash than what was already made public?
