Fannin County, TX — October 19, 2023, one person was injured in a wheel-off car accident shortly after 3:30 p.m. along U.S. Highway 82.
According to authorities, a 23-year-old man was traveling in a westbound GMC Envoy on U.S. 82 in the vicinity east of the C.R. 1501 intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the GMC lost control. This led to the vehicle overturning and rolling an unknown number of times before coming to a stop. During the course of the accident, the back left wheel and tire reportedly came loose from the vehicle, crossing over the median and entering the eastbound lanes of the highway. It reportedly collided with an eastbound Peterbilt 18-wheeler, causing damage.
The man from the GMC incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. He was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
