Johnson County, TX — January 6, 2026, Wanda Yarborough was injured as the result of a car accident at around 5:07 p.m. along FM 917.
Initial details about the crash say that it happened in the area of The Homesteads north of Alvarado.
According to officials, 64-year-old Wanda Yarborough was in a Honda HR-V going southwest on FM 917. A Chevy pickup was going the same direction. The two vehicles then collided. As a result of the crash, Wanda Yarborough was seriously injured.
Other injuries weren’t confirmed. At this time, additional details about the accident are unconfirmed, as well.

When I see someone seriously injured in a crash, one of my first concerns is if authorities ever followed up with them to get their side of the story. It would shock folks to see how often I had a case where a victim was rushed to the hospital, and authorities simply never reached out to get a statement.
Of course, someone’s recounting of an accident is no replacement for gathering clear evidence from the crash scene. At the same time, failing to get everyone’s side of the story can leave huge gaps in the story. So, if authorities have been thorough to get all sides of this story, that would be good to hear. However, it wouldn’t be unusual if that required efforts from independent investigators stepping in to pick up the slack.
