Currently, the exact factors surrounding the crash can’t be confirmed. With a single-vehicle wreck, that leaves a lot of possibilities to consider. While folks may be quick to simply blame the driver, there are many possible extenuating circumstances that initial police investigations aren’t likely to cover.
I can give some examples off the top of my head which I’ve seen multiple times throughout my career. There may have been a sudden tire blowout. The car may have had a defect. The driver may have been illegally over-served by a bar. The roadway may be poorly designed or equipped with insufficient signage or lighting. The driver may have experienced a medical emergency. Another driver could have caused the wreck and fled the scene.
Are these possibilities common? Not necessarily, but they’ve happened before, and they’ll happen again. So why bother jumping to conclusions and blaming someone for something that may have been beyond their control when the evidence can simply speak for itself? That’s why there should be a proper investigation into crashes like this to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks.
