Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People tend to assume pedestrian accidents are always straight-forward, but they can present unique challenges. There may have been issues with lighting or signage in the area. The driver may have failed to avoid an otherwise avoidable collision. Alcohol may have contributed to the accident. This could be an area that is inherently dangerous for pedestrians. Likely or not, investigators should be able to rule out all kinds of possible contributing factors. Otherwise, a family can’t be sure they’re getting the full story. Were authorities here able to get clear evidence of what led to this accident, or is there still more to this story that needs to be brought to light.
