Zapata County, TX — November 15, 2025, Venessa Cabrera was killed as the result of a car accident at around midnight along US Highway 83.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened in the Morales-Sanchez area at the intersection of US 83 and FM 2687.
Investigators said that 63-year-old Venessa Cabrera was in a GMC Acadia going westbound on FM 2687. At US 83, the GMC and a northbound Ford pickup collided. Venessa Cabrera was fatally injured due to the accident.

One of the most common concerns I hear from families after a deadly car accident is that they want to be sure their loved one’s side of the story is being told fairly. That’s entirely reasonable, and they’re right to take steps to ensure that’s happening.
A lot of folks can be surprised to find authorities not actually giving a serious crash the attention it deserves. Unfortunately, not all departments prioritize accident reconstruction. That can leave officers without the time or tools they need to do their jobs properly.
As such, it can be a crucial step forward to go to authorities early on with any questions or concerns. If authorities can address those concerns, it’s typically a sign they’re handling the investigations well. But if their responses fall short, that may be a sign that independent investigators should step in so nothing important slips through the cracks.
