Brazos County, TX — January 24, 2024, Vanessa Ethridge was injured following a car accident at around 8:00 p.m. on Rock Prairie Road.

Initial statements about the crash from authorities indicate that the accident happened southeast of College Station and north of Millican.

Vanessa Ethridge Injured in Car Accident in Brazos County, TX

Officials said that 21-year-old Vanessa Ethridge was in a Kia Sorento which was going southbound along Rock Prairie Road. Roads were wet at the time, and the vehicle apparently lost control and ran off the side of the road. There, the vehicle, crashed through ditch and into a fence line.

Ethridge was seriously injured in the crash, according to authorities. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the crash. Right now, not further information about the accident can be confirmed.

Something that stands out to me here is authorities saying the driver was seriously injured, but I don’t see many details one generally associates with a severe crash. Did the vehicle overturn? Was this fence particularly sturdy? Just reading what’s in the initial public statements, I would expect most drivers in a modern vehicle to get out more or less okay. So is there something authorities failed to mention which could explain these serious injuries? Or, could it be that something the driver had no control over made this crash more severe than it should have been?
