Concho County, TX — April 26, 2024, Vallerie Terral was killed and one person was injured after a wrong-way accident around 10:26 p.m. along US Highway 87.
Investigators said that the accident took place between Eden and Melvin at County Road 4071.
According to officials, 23-year-old Vallerie Terral was in a Kia Rio going westbound along the highway. An eastbound vehicle reportedly got onto the wrong side of the road where it collided head-on with the Kia.
Vallerie Terral reportedly was killed in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was seriously injured. Right now, additional details about the cause of the crash can’t be confirmed.

It’s not entirely clear if authorities believe that the oncoming vehicle was on the wrong side of the road or if it suddenly crossed over. This is a lot more than a distinction without a difference. Late at night, if someone is on the wrong side of the road, it brings up the very serious possibility that the driver was intoxicated.
But if a vehicle suddenly crosses over, it’s more likely something like fatigue, distraction, a tire blowout, etc. Alcohol is always possible, of course, but it’s important to know that authorities were careful behind the scenes not to be flippant in their explanations. Rather, it’s important they got the victim’s loved ones a clear understanding of exactly what led to the crash. Did that happen here?
