Accident Report
Dallas, TX — March 21, 2026, Unicka Ssempira was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about midnight on Interstate 30/U.S. Highway 67.
A preliminary accident report indicates that 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped in a traffic lane on the bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard when it was hit from behind by a 2018 Mini Cooper.
Mini driver Unicka Ssempira, 48, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.
The Chevrolet driver, who allegedly was fatigued or asleep before the crash, was charged with intoxication assault, the report states. He was not hurt in the crash, but his passenger was listed as possibly injured.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Rockwall County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It appears that police have concluded the crash happened because a drunk driver chose to sleep it off in the middle of Interstate 30, but what if the Chevrolet broke down there instead? What if the Mini crashed into the stopped pickup because it had a problem with its brakes? I expect investigators to consider these scenarios as they look into this crash, as well as trying to confirm that the Chevrolet driver was drunk, as alleged.
If that happens, this investigation needs to expand to determine where he had been drinking before this crash. It’s one thing if he was drinking at home, but if he had been at a bar or restaurant that could mean others share accountability for this accident. Alcohol providers can be held liable for injuries caused by a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated under Texas law. I don’t know if that happened here, but it is worth investigating, although it may take an outsider investigator since most law enforcement agencies don’t take their investigations that far.
