Harris County, TX — March 9, 2024, Umer Khalid was killed while Mazie Perez and three others were injured in a multi-car accident at about 8:20 p.m. along U.S. 90.
According to authorities, a BMW, a Ford F-150, and a Honda Accord were traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 90 in the vicinity east of Sam Houston Parkway when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the front right side of the BMW collided with the back left side of the pickup truck. The collision caused the pickup truck to veer right and crash into the Honda Accord twice before swerving left and crossing over the center median. It entered the eastbound lanes of traffic as a result and was involved in another collision with an oncoming Nissan Murano.
34-year-old Umer Khalid—who had been behind the wheel of the eastbound Nissan—sustained reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. A 26-year-old passenger in the Nissan and 52-year-old Mazie Perez—the sole occupant of the Ford—sustained suspected severe injuries. The 33-year-old woman from the Honda suffered apparently moderate injuries, as well. No other injuries have been reported.
