How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, we don’t know what this Audi crashed into a guardrail. Was the driver distracted or fatigued? Did he swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the Audi have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? I can’t answer these questions from what I’ve read so far, even with more than 30 years of experience in accident investigations, but these are the kind of things authorities must consider as they work to reconstruct this accident.

Vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and any available video footage will help piece together the events leading to this crash, while cell phone footage could show if the driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time.

If authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this accident, a qualified expert should examine the Audi in a laboratory setting. Most law enforcement agencies aren’t equipped for that kind of inspection, but the Audi driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
